Groezrock Announce First Bands for 2015
The Belgium based weekender have announced a barrage of first class names for their 2015 festival.
Having already announced the mighty Refused as their first headliner, they've also added the legendary Social Distortion to help them headline the bill. As well as that, the huge Lagwagon and Millencolin will join them. But punk isn't all about headliners as we all know - it's about supporting your local scene. Which is why the organisers have added Belgium based Toxic Shock, Your Highness, Set Things Right and Psycho 44.
Joining them will be The Dwarves, and Against Me! whose excellent album "Transgender Dysphoria Blues" is one of the most talked about records of the past twelve months.
Australian friends Frenzal Rhomb and The Smith Street Band will be making the epic journey across from down under to appear throughout the weekend.
Having recently reformed, the ever popular Basement will be playing for those that missed their reunion shows. Also hopping across the pond from England will be Gnarwolves, While She Sleeps and Turbowolf.
For those whose ears enjoy the heavier side of life, the deathcore stylings of Suicide Silence, Emmure, Whitechapel and Carnifex will be playing in close proximity to one another, enough for any heavy metal fan to get excited about. But if that wasn't loud enough, the mighty Atreyu, Unearth and Cancer Bats will also appear over the weekend. Making another debut will be Iron Reagan, which features members of Municipal Waste and Darkest Hour. That's a hell of a lot of loud.
Playing the festival for the first time ever are Timeshares, Direct Hit!, Transit, Turnstile, Set it off, The Interrupters and The Holy Mess.
Having played the festival and loved it the first time around, Make Do And Mend, Banner Pilot, Off With Their Heads, Teenage Bottlerocket, The Ghost Inside and Such Gold will be returning for the second round.
Just when you think that's too much awesome for a first announcement, they've thrown in some of the biggest names in hardcore, namely Comeback Kid, Stick To Your Guns, Trash Talk, Defeater, Reign Supreme and Agnostic fucking Front.
Finally, come and say goodbye to Bane and The Swellers, or come and say hello again to old acquaintances at the reunions of As Friends Rust and American Nightmare who will play on the Etnies stage.
Hold your horses though.... There's a new, fifth stage. Not just a random huge tent with barriers and security, either. There will be a second, smaller stage due to the success of the Etnies stage, which will be open for plenty of stage-diving fun and shenanigans. The new stage is, as yet, un-named, so if you have any suggestions send them over to the guys at Groezrock on firstname.lastname@example.org and you might just win a free ticket. The only thing they ask if you watch out for the band's equipment on the stage, and be careful of where you jump and on whom.
Now, let the pants-creaming commence.
Groezrock takes place on Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd 2015 in Meerhout, Belgium. There's a Facebook event HERE.
